Asbury Leadership 2008

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Asbury was blessed with a wonderful year in 2007.  Many new and exciting out-reach ministries were established as we focused on our Vision of impacting “Maitland, our surrounding community, and the world with the message of Jesus Christ.”  As we are faithful to the Lord’s leading in our midst, I know that His blessings are going to continue to rain down upon us. My prayer for 2008 is that we keep our eyes and hearts focused on our Mission and Vision Statements so that we will be faithful to our calling in this community.

I am writing to ask that you mark your calendar for a very special training event that is being sponsored by the Education work area and the Laity Council for ALL 2008 Church leaders and their spouses.  The program is entitled Contagious Christianity and is a wonderful opportunity to grow in our gifts of being winsome witnesses for Jesus Christ. This leadership retreat will run over two days, Friday, January 25 (7pm-9pm) and Saturday, January 26 (8am-noon) in the Chapel.  The retreat will be lead by Pat Cassidy who is a certified trainer for the Contagious Christianity program.

Churches throughout the nation are missing the opportunity to impact their communities for Jesus Christ. Why?  Perhaps the reason is that Church Leaders don’t feel equipped to share the “Good News” in a positive, winsome way.  We have the best news in the world to offer hurting humanity.  It must not be bottled up selfishly within our little lives, but rather shared meaningfully with those around us.  I want Asbury to be known for its powerful witness to the glory of Christ.  And it begins with you – the leadership of this church.  Contagious Christianity will equip you to be that kind of winsome witness.

I strongly encourage you to come.  I am praying that every leader here at Asbury will sense the need for this training.  Mark your calendar now – January 25-26.  See you there!

In Christian love,

Pastor Scott
