Romance at church? Who would have "thunk” it? The following is a true account out of a journal entry from a member of Asbury UMC, watching other members of Asbury. Who knows? The couple that this person observed....could be YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's this couple at Asbury UMC, who at first glance, appeared to be newlyweds, in waiting for their first child. Not long after that day, I learned that they had been married for many years and already had children. I knew this couple really loved one another through their repeated actions and words. Every time I saw them they oozed of over flowing love, not just for themselves and their family, but for those in their midst. One day, some of us concerned Asbury members were in attendance at a church "business” meeting. The husband had arrived early to make sure everything was in it's place. Time marched on with no sign of the wife. I could begin to see a glimpse of worry come across his face...you know, those fine lines and wrinkles that happen to a man's brow when something is pulling at his heart in the form of worry and wonder. The meeting started and we all got on with the business at hand, but every now and again you could see the man sneak a peek at the back of the room toward the door to see if his wife had arrived. You could see the struggle upon his face and in his heart.--do I step out to use the cell phone to check on her or just pay attention and know that she will show up soon? The side door opens when least expected and the wife slips quietly in her assigned seat at another table. The worry wrinkles on the man's brow disappear and are replaced by a huge, twinkling eye grin. If I could assign mental pictures to words within the dictionary of my brain, I will always remember the look that this couple shared at that very moment in time when I hear the word LOVE. Though it was just a moment, God allowed me to share in a moment of love between the two. It may sound like just any ordinary moment, but to me was no ordinary moment...it was an extraordinary moment. The one's that God gives you when you least expect it. Like a puff of breath, bringing life into a single moment in time. Blinking, I could have missed it. And though it was only for a few seconds, and no words were exchanged or mouthed, there amid the noise and chatter, the eye contact, the unspoken words between this man and his wife screamed LOVE. It was a moment, a single flash in time. But it was beautiful and simple and pure. It was a God given moment just for me. Happy Day Friend!
